How to layout and install gas detectors in different places?

Time: 2023-11-10

Combustible or toxic and hazardous gas detectors are required to be installed in industrial places such as petroleum, chemical, metallurgy, comprehensive pipeline corridors and commercial places such as restaurants, hotels and supermarkets. However, many consumers in the purchase of the instrument, due to the installation of incorrect location, often does not play a monitoring role, and may even damage the instrument, resulting in unnecessary losses.

So, for different places, consumers how to effectively layout the installation of combustible or toxic gas detectors?

How to layout and install gas detectors in different places?

Combustible and toxic gas detector detection points, should be based on the physical and chemical properties of the gas, the characteristics of the release source, the layout of the production site, geographic conditions, the environmental climate, the characteristics of the detector, the detection of the alarm reliability requirements, the operation of the inspection route and other factors for a comprehensive analysis, to choose the combustible gases and toxic gases are easy to accumulate, easy to sample and detect and instrumentation maintenance of the place where the layout.

Setting of combustible/toxic gas detectors in production facilities

If the release source is in the equipment area of open air or open plant arrangement, the horizontal distance of the combustible gas detector from any release source within its coverage should not be more than 10 m. The horizontal distance of the toxic gas detector from any release source within its coverage should not be more than 4 m. 2. If the release source is in the closed plant or semi-open plant with poor local ventilation, the horizontal distance of the combustible gas detector from any release source within its coverage should not be more than 10 m. The horizontal distance of the toxic gas detector from any release source within its coverage should not be more than 5 m. 3. Combustible gas detector from the scope of its coverage of any release source of the horizontal distance should not be greater than 5m; toxic gas detector from the scope of its coverage of any release source of the horizontal distance should not be greater than 2m; 3. lighter-than-air combustible gases or toxic gases release source in a closed or poorly ventilated semi-open plant, in addition to the release of the source of the upper part of the detector set up, but also in the plant at the highest point of the gas is easy to accumulate at the setting of the combustible or toxic gases detector. Toxic gas detectors should also be provided at the highest point in the plant where gases tend to accumulate.

Installation of combustible/toxic gas detectors in fire breakwater

Detectors shall be set up in the fire embankment of liquid storage tanks for liquefied hydrocarbons, A B, B A liquids and other liquids generating combustible gases. And in line with the following provisions: 1. combustible gas detector from the scope of its coverage of any release source of the horizontal distance should not be greater than 10m; 2. toxic gas detector from the scope of its coverage of any release source of the horizontal distance should not be greater than 4m.

Setting of combustible/toxic gas detectors in loading and unloading facilities

Liquefied hydrocarbons, A B, B A liquid loading and unloading facilities, detector settings should be in line with the following provisions: 1. railroad loading and unloading platforms, on the ground for each space should be set up a detector, and the detector and loading and unloading the horizontal distance from the mouth should not be greater than 10m; 2. steam Chad loading and unloading station loading and unloading cranes and detector should not be greater than 10m; loading and unloading facilities, pumps or compressors detection (probe) detector settings, should be in line with the relevant provisions. Should be in line with the relevant provisions.

Filling station combustible / toxic gas detector settings

Liquefied hydrocarbon filling station detector setup, should be consistent with the following provisions: 1. closed or semi-open bottle filling room, the filling port and the detector of the horizontal distance of 5m ~ 7.5m; 2. closed or semi-open bottle storage should be in line with the relevant provisions; open bottle storage room along the perimeter of the every 15m ~ 20m should be set up a detector, when the total length of the four sides of the sum of less than 15m, should be a detector; 3. buffer tank drain or valve group and the detector setup should be in line with relevant regulations; 3. buffer tank drainage port or valve group and the detector setup should not be greater than 10m; the pump or compressor detection (detector). The horizontal distance between the drain or valve group of the tank and the detector should be 5m~7.5m.

Setting of combustible/toxic gas detector in hydrogen filling room: closed or semi-open hydrogen filling room, a detector should be set at the highest point in the room above the filling port where the gas is easily trapped.

Installation of combustible/toxic gas detectors at loading/unloading terminals: A detector should be installed within 10m from the horizontal plane of the oil transfer arm at loading/unloading terminals where combustible gases may be emitted.

Combustible/toxic gas detectors in storage and transportation facilities: In other storage and transportation facilities where combustible gases and toxic gases are stored and transported, the combustible gas detectors and/or toxic gas detectors should comply with the relevant regulations.

Setting of combustible/toxic gas detectors for open-flame heating furnace: Combustible gas detectors should be set up between the open-flame heating furnace and the source of combustible gas release. The horizontal distance of the detector from the edge of the heating furnace should be 5m~10m. When there is a solid wall of non-combustible material between the open-flame heating furnace and the source of combustible gas release, the detector should be set up on the side of the solid wall close to the source of release. Correct and reasonable layout and installation of combustible/toxic gas detectors, gas detectors can be allowed to play out the best performance for the safe production of enterprises to hold up the "umbrella", guarding the gas environment in various fields of safety!
