Liquid ammonia, also known as anhydrous ammonia, is a colorless liquid with a strong pungent smell. As an important chemical raw material, ammonia is usually pressurized or cooled to obtain liquid ammonia for convenient transportation and storage. Harm of liquid ammonia

1. The vaporized liquid ammonia is highly volatile and irritating, and the stimulation of nasal mucous will cause asphyxia. It can make the throat red and swollen, cause cough and hoarseness.
2. Long term exposure to high concentration ammonia can cause emphysema and pneumonia, stimulate the nervous system, and destroy the ventilator and blood circulation.
3. Skin contact with high concentration ammonia will absorb its tissue moisture, alkalize fat, and cause soluble tissue necrosis.
4. When exposed to liquid nitrogen for a long time, the sensitivity of olfactory organs will change.
5. The vaporized ammonia is explosive.
 
 
How to prevent leakage of liquid ammonia
 
There are two main aspects to prevent liquid ammonia leakage: the first is to prevent explosion due to leakage, and the second is to prevent poisoning due to leakage.
The place where liquid ammonia exists shall be ventilated, and fireworks shall be strictly prohibited on site; Explosion proof electrical appliances and tools are adopted, equipped with 4-type gas mask and acid and alkali resistant rubber gloves.
