As an accurate device for monitoring gas leakage concentration, fixed gas detectors can monitor the leakage concentration of flammable or toxic and harmful gases in industrial and commercial places in real time. Once the gas leakage concentration in the environment reaches or exceeds the preset value of the instrument, the alarm will immediately send out an audible and visual alarm signal, and can also start external equipment such as solenoid valves and exhaust fans to maximize the safety of factory production and employee life. It can be seen that the correct installation and maintenance of fixed gas detectors are of great significance.
Fixed gas detector installation steps
- Preparation of tools and materials: According to the actual installation requirements, prepare the required tools and materials in advance, such as screwdrivers, hammers, wire strippers, electric drills, expansion screws, etc.
- Selection of installation location: The gas detector should be installed in an area where gas leakage may occur, and the installation location must be stable. The choice of installation height needs to be determined according to the specific gravity of the measured gas and air. When the measured gas has a specific gravity less than that of air, it will diffuse upward after leakage, so the detector should be installed 30-60 cm from the ceiling; when the measured gas has a specific gravity greater than that of air, it will diffuse downward after leakage, so the detector should be installed 30-60 cm from the floor. In addition, factors such as airflow direction, personnel flow, height angle, distance density, etc. must be considered during installation to ensure that the detector can accurately capture the target gas.
- Installation environment verification: In order to ensure the normal operation of the detector and avoid malfunctions, the following locations are prohibited from installation: areas directly affected by steam and oil smoke; places with large air flow such as air inlets, ventilation fans, and doors; places with more water vapor and water droplets (relative humidity greater than 90%); environments with temperatures below -40℃ or above 70℃.
- Drilling and fixing: Use a suitable electric drill to drill holes in the wall, and then use expansion screws to fix the detector to the wall. Be sure to ensure that it is firmly fixed to prevent the detector from loosening or falling during use.
- Wiring operation: Use highly shielded wires to prevent electrical signals from being interfered with. After wiring is completed, open the top cover and organize the lines.
- Parameter setting: Set the relevant parameters of the device according to the operating manual of the gas detector.
- Power-on test: After installation, power on the gas detector for testing to confirm that the device can operate normally and check whether the alarm system can accurately send out sound and light alarm signals.
- Debugging and calibration: After the installation work is completed, debug and calibrate the gas detector to ensure that it can accurately detect the target gas.
Key points for selecting the installation location of fixed gas detectors
- Select according to gas type: For detecting gases such as natural gas with a specific gravity less than air, the detector should be installed near the ceiling; when detecting combustible gases or toxic gases heavier than air, the detector should be installed near the ground.
- Consider the direction of airflow: Choose a location that is conducive to gas circulation, which can help the detector better capture the target gas, and avoid areas where airflow is blocked or there are dead corners.
- Avoid human interference: Do not install the detector in areas where people frequently move or stay to prevent affecting the detection results. At the same time, ensure that the installation location is convenient for observation and operation.
- Convenient for maintenance and repair: The installation location of the detector should fully consider the maintenance and repair needs of the equipment, ensure that the sensor and other components are easy to disassemble and replace, and facilitate future maintenance work.
