Purpose of Carbon Monoxide Alarms

2025-04-21

What are the common causes of carbon monoxide poisoning?

◆Burning charcoal

Burning charcoal for heating, burning charcoal hot pot, cooking tea around the stove, etc., are prone to incomplete combustion and produce a large amount of carbon monoxide. If the room is not well ventilated, carbon monoxide poisoning is likely to occur.

◆Wrong use of gas water heaters

Many families install gas water heaters in the bathroom. If the gas cannot be completely burned and the use time is too long, carbon monoxide accumulates, and the windows are closed when it is cold, it is easy to cause poisoning.

◆Sleeping in the car with the air conditioner on

When the car engine is idling, the gasoline is not burned completely, and a large amount of exhaust gas containing carbon monoxide will be produced. The exhaust gas enters the car through the air inlet of the car’s air conditioner, which is easy to cause poisoning.

How to first aid after carbon monoxide poisoning?

1 Immediately turn off the gas or extinguish the charcoal fire, and open the doors and windows for ventilation;

2 Quickly remove the poisoned patient from the poisoning scene, transfer to a place with fresh air and good ventilation, loosen the buttons and belts, and keep breathing unobstructed;

3 Call 120 emergency number and send to the hospital in time, keep the unconscious patient in a side-lying position to prevent vomit from being inhaled into the respiratory tract and causing suffocation;

4 While waiting for emergency personnel, further observe and urgently treat the poisoned person; if the heartbeat and breathing stop, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and remove the poisoned patient from the poisoning scene.

How to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning?

01 Pay attention to ventilation: When using coal stoves, charcoal fires and other heating equipment indoors, the coal should be burned out and not covered. Do not seal all doors and windows with plastic film, and leave a certain gap to allow indoor air to circulate and avoid carbon monoxide accumulation. Open windows frequently for ventilation to keep the indoor air fresh.

02 Choose regular heating tools: correctly install and use heating equipment such as coal stoves and charcoal fires. Water heaters should be installed in outdoor ventilated places as much as possible. When taking a bath, the bathroom doors and windows should not be closed tightly, and the bathing time should not be too long. The coal stove used for heating should be equipped with a chimney, and the chimney structure should be kept tight and well ventilated to prevent smoke leakage and backflow.

03 Check frequently: Before going to bed every night, be sure to check whether the fire is sealed, the stove cover is tightly covered, the damper is open, and the smoke exhaust is unobstructed.

04 Stay away from dangerous items: Heating equipment such as coal and fire should be kept away from flammable, explosive, and volatile toxic substances.

05 Pay attention when driving: When driving, do not let the engine idle for a long time; when the car is stopped, do not turn on the air conditioner for too long; even when driving, you should often open the windows to allow convection of air inside and outside the car. Stop and rest if you feel uncomfortable; if you feel dizzy, heavy, or weak in your limbs when driving or riding in an air-conditioned car, you should open the window in time to breathe fresh air.

06 Install a carbon monoxide alarm: Install a carbon monoxide alarm and regularly check whether the alarm is intact and effective. When the alarm sounds, open the window for ventilation immediately and evacuate to a safe area.

Chicheng Electric Carbon Monoxide Detector is more secure to use

Chicheng Electric has been focusing on the field of gas detection for 21 years and specializes in the research, development, production and sales of gas environment safety monitoring products. Its main products are intelligent instruments, alarm control systems and supporting equipment, intelligent sensors, etc. in the field of gas environment safety monitoring. They are mainly used in many industrial fields such as petroleum, chemical industry, gas, metallurgy, electricity, medicine, food, and urban public places, household civil use, underground integrated pipe corridors, etc.

Carbon monoxide alarm is a commonly used safety equipment, often referred to as a “safety housekeeper” working 24 hours a day. Its core component is a gas sensor, commonly known as an “electronic nose”, which can effectively sense the concentration of carbon monoxide leakage and send out sound and light alarm signals in time to remind people to take emergency measures.

Chicheng Electric has a variety of carbon monoxide detectors with exquisite appearance and excellent quality, which can be installed in industrial and commercial places, large shopping malls, offices and residential homes to effectively prevent the occurrence of carbon monoxide accidents.
